GVEI crowned U-17 zonal Football Champion

With the J&K youth service and sports department’s ongoing series of sports events underway across Jammu and Kashmir, 14 teams from different schools participated in the zonal-level under-17 boys’ football tournament on Wednesday.

The tournament, as per the officials, is being organised by the Zonal Physical Education Office Gulab Bagh in collaboration with the District Youth Services and Sports Department (DYSSD), Srinagar.

The matches were hosted at Green Valley Education al Institute (GVEI) Srinagar and witnessed enthusiastic participation from 14 teams across the zone, with six intense matches played on the inaugural ceremony of the tournament.

The football fields at GVEI echoed with energy and determination as young athletes demonstrated their skills and sportsmanship.

In the opening match,

GHS Umerhair faced GHS Chaterhama in a competitive encounter, followed by GHS Umerhair putting up a strong performance in their respective fixtures.

IDPS recorded a notable win over S. M. Iqbal, while Usmania Public School dis- played dominance against BHS Batapora in an impressive match.

Alpha Public School clashed with Crescent Public School in a thrilling contest, with Alpha emerging victorious.

Gulastan-i-Atfal defeated GHS Mallabagh in a spirited game that drew great applause. The day concluded with an exciting fixture between BHSS Tailbal and BHSS Hazratbal.

Chairman of GVEI, Muhammed Yousuf Wani, expressed his pride in hosting the tournament, emphasizing that such events are essential for the holistic development of students. He said that GVEI remains committed to offering students greater opportunities to explore and excel in both academics and athletics.
