Green Valley Educational Institute successfully conducted a two-day Capacity Development Workshop for the Management, HODs, and Coordinators, with Dr. Fayyaz Ahmed from SCERT (State Council of Educational Research and Training) serving as the resource person.
The two-day workshop focused on strengthening pedagogical leadership, assessment practices, and competency-based education. The sessions provided participants with valuable insights into PARAKH, Competency-Based Education (CBE), the Holistic Progress Card (HPC) framework, and various approaches to assessment.
The first day began with an in-depth discussion on pedagogical leadership and an introduction to PARAKH, CBE, and HPC. Dr. Fayyaz Ahmed also guided the participants on the formation and effective use of rubrics, helping them understand how structured assessment tools can support meaningful and competency-based evaluation. The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in discussions and exploring ways to apply the concepts within the school environment.
The second day commenced with an engaging warm-up activity, followed by interactive discussions with the participants. The teachers were divided into four teams representing the Foundational, Primary, Middle, and Secondary stages. Each team prepared and presented a PowerPoint presentation focusing on key areas such as the Holistic Progress Card (HPC), competency-based education, formal assessment, and holistic assessment.
The team presentations were followed by an interactive group discussion, allowing participants to respond to questions, exchange perspectives, and reflect on the learning gained throughout the workshop. The collaborative activities provided teachers with an opportunity to connect theoretical concepts with their respective academic stages and classroom practices.
The workshop concluded on a positive and productive note, with the school authorities expressing their commitment to implementing HPC and related competency-based practices in the upcoming academic session. As a gesture of appreciation, a memento was presented to Dr. Fayyaz Ahmed in recognition of his valuable contribution, guidance, and expertise.
The two-day Capacity Development Workshop served as a meaningful professional development initiative, equipping the participants with greater clarity on pedagogical leadership, competency-based education, and holistic assessment while reinforcing the school’s commitment to strengthening teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
